General Information and Fees
 The GED Tests give you the opportunity  to earn a State of Florida High School  Diploma. The GED consists of five (5)
 tests. The fees for each test are listed  below.

 Mathematics $14.00
 Language Arts, Writing $16.00
 Language Arts, Reading $14.00
 Science $14.00
 Social Studies $14.00
 Prices are subject to change.

All Tests
The fee for the complete battery
(all 5 tests) is $70.00. Students needing to retake one or more of the subtests will be required to pay the fee for that test or tests.

Registering For The GED Test
All candidates must show either a
Florida Driver License or
State of Florida Identification Card
to register for the test. This is the only photo identification that will be accepted.
Persons 18 years of age and older residing in Florida at the time of application may register for the GED Tests. Individuals
16-17 years of age who have an
Age Waiver by the Superintendent of Schools for Palm Beach County may
also register for the Tests.
GED Age Waiver
(get Acrobat) applications may be obtained at any of
the adult education centers included in the brochure. Age Waiver applicants must take and pass the GED Practice Test with a minimum score of 500 on each subtest and a minimum total of 2500 on the entire test.

Total Testing Time
Total testing time allowed is seven hours and five minutes. Individuals taking the
tests must arrive no later than the
check-in time included with the GED Testing Schedule.

Preparing For The GED Test
It is recommended that adults wishing to take the GED tests take advantage of the preparation programs provided at no cost to the student. The Official GED Practice Test is also available at each center listed. Individuals needing to retake one or more of the subtests are urged to consider enrolling in a preparation program.

Age Wavier Request Checklist
Students, ages 16 and 17, must complete and notarize an Age Waiver Application.

Copy of student's official withdrawal from high school This form may be obtained from guidance office.

Copy of student's scores from the
Official GED Practice Test. A total score must be a minimum of 2500 with a minimum score of 500 on each sub-test.

Letter written by student and notarized with reason for the age waiver request.

Letter written by parent and notarized granting permission to take the GED
Test and if necessary, stating reason for the age waiver.

Documentation of reason checked. Individuals may register for the GED
Tests at the locations listed. Please

registrations are taken. All candidates must complete a GED Testing
Application and pay the testing fee at
time of registration

Scoring The GED Exam
The GED Exam is graded on a standard scale score. The maximum score on each of the five (5) sections is 800. A minimum of 410 must be scored on each of the five (5) sections of the exam to pass but there must be an average of 450 on all five (5) sections to receive the Florida High School Diploma. A total of 2250 points is needed to pass the exam but you may not have a score lower that 410 on each of the five (5) sections.


 

 

 

 GED Fast Track Program
 The 12-hour course lets you focus on
 just what you need for the GED.
 Nighttime sessions are held at two  different locations in Palm Beach  County. Classes meet four nights,  Monday through Thursday, three hours  each night. For more information call  (561) 434-8058.
